VP Faisal reiterates govt’s dedication to advancing writers

Vice Faisal Naseem, on Wednesday, has reiterated the administration's unwavering dedication to advancing writers, citing they play a crucial role in society, shaping narratives and sparking conversations that drive progress.

He made the remark while speaking at a ceremony at the Maldives National University (MNU) to unveil a collection of books published under the 'University Book Writing Grant’.

In this regard, the vice president stressed that the administration remains steadfast in its efforts to foster an environment conducive to the growth and development of such talented individuals.

He also underscored the important role of writing and literature in disseminating knowledge within societies. 

In this trajectory, he commended MNU’s initiative in successfully implementing the 'University Book Writing Grant,' which serves as a catalyst for academic writing, adding that three authors have already published their works this year, thanks to the funding.

In his address, he also highlighted the significance of the Dhivehi language, asserting that our mother tongue is a unique identifier of our identity.

After the ceremony, VP Faisal inaugurated the 'MNU Book Fair 2023' and hosted a tour of the event at the university premises. 

The book fair, which commenced today, will go on till September 22, and serves as a platform showcasing gifted local writers' multilingual work. This year's event is marked by the participation of 23 exhibitors, further enriching the literary landscape.
