Siyam: Youth must unite to protect nation's independence and sovereignty

The leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, has called on the youth to work to protect the country's independence and sovereignty.

Siyam said this in his special address on the occasion of the National Day of Maldives. He said the ones who saved the people from Portuguese oppression, brought development to Maldives, established Islamic unity and built a strong economy were Boduthakurufaanu and all the heroes who worked with him.

The selfless work of all the heroes who worked for Maldives' independence is something every individual should think about and learn from, he said.

“If Boduthakurufaanu and his associates had not done that, it is difficult to imagine what this beloved country would be like today,” Siyam said.

Therefore, he urged all the youth of the country to join hands and work with renewed courage and unwavering determination to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country and build a sustainable economy.
