Voting hours in foreign countries announced

Elections Commission (EC), on Sunday, has announced the voting hours in foreign countries where ballot boxes will be placed in the presidential election slated for September 9th.

Ballot boxes will be placed in five countries for this year’s election; India’s Trivandrum, Sri Lanka’s Colombo, UAE’s Abu Dhabi, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur, and UK’s London.

As per an announcement by EC, the voting hours in the respective countries, in their local time, are as follows;

  • Trivandrum, India: 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Colombo, Sri Lanka: 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Abu Dhabi, UAE: 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: 11:00am to 7:00pm
  • London, UK: 8:30am to 4:30pm

A total of 604 ballot boxes will be placed for this year’s elections, both locally and abroad.

They include 197 ballot boxes in the Greater Male’ Region and 397 ballot boxes in atolls.
