Former deputy defense minister Hassan Zameel has filed his candidacy for the upcoming presidential election.
He picked his wife, Mariyam Aleem as his running mate.
Zameel went to the elections center to submit his candidacy on Monday, accompanied by his wife and his son – who his campaign agent.
He recently resigned from his post as deputy defense minister to contest the election.
Zameel, who has served to government positions, including as deputy director general at the Tourism Ministry, has a Master’s in Law.
His running mate Mariyam had served at the Atolls Ministry for 21 years, and at the Prosecutor General’s Office for 11 years.
