A biography has been released based on the life of the Maldivian Vice President Faisal Naseem.
The book was released by the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM)’s Chancellor Dr. Zahir Hussain, in a function held to celebrate the vice president’s 50th birthday at the Ghiyasuddin School in Male’ on Thursday night.
The book was written by Sun Online’s assistant managing editor and author Ahmed Saail Ali.
Saail described Faisal’s life, starting from his childhood to how he became the country’s vice president, as “inspiring.”
“I don’t know anyone else who has contributed so much to the community. Faisal was different, even as a young boy. He showed signs of a true leader even then. He reached where he is now through sheer hard work. Faisal’s life is full of inspiration on how to become successful. All this is in this book,” he said.
Faisal had been appointed manager at the Paradise Island Resort at the age of 20 – the highest position a Maldivian has held at a resort of that caliber.
He had served as a member of the extraordinary parliamentary assembly that drafted the new Constitution, and as a parliamentary representative for the Kaashidhoo constituency.
He is also the country’s longest-serving VP.
Many, including President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, describe him as “loyal”, “honest”, and “trustworthy”.
Saail said the vice president’s biography contains a detailed account of his life from childhood, including many “untold” stories.
The book also contains a special interview from the president, who described Faisal as someone who makes up his own mind, rather than following others.
He also commended the vice president for his sincerity and dedication to public service.
He described Faisal not just as a political ally, but also a good friend.
The vice president’s biography is available for purchase from the Novelty Bookshop. Delivery services are available via call or text message to 9892563 or 7671191.
