A third pilgrim from Maldives who traveled to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage has passed away.
Sun can confirm the identity of the deceased as Gasim Ibrahim, 70, Udhares, N. Holhudhoo, a pilgrim under the oversight of state-run Maldives Hajj Corporation.
An official from Maldives Hajj Corporation said Gasim was discovered dead inside his hotel room.
The first death came early Friday when Mohamed Naseem Ali, 72, Mala, R. Maakurath, was discovered dead four days after he went missing.
The dead body of the pilgrim affiliated with Al-Haramain Hajj & Umrah Company Maldives Private Limited was discovered near Jabal al-Nour, a mountain area in Mecca.
He went missing four days prior, before pilgrims departed Mina, bound to Mount Arafat.
The report of the second death came on Saturday.
Islamic Ministry identified the deceased as Ali Hassan, 72, Fiyaathoshige, Dh. Maaenboodhoo.
He had travelled to Saudi Arabia with the Maldives Hajj Corporation.
According to the Islamic Ministry, Ali Hassan died while under treatment at the Saudi German Hospital in Mecca at 06:17 pm on Friday, Maldivian time.
