Magnitude 6 quake strikes Indian Ocean; no threat to Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service states there is no threat to Maldives from the magnitude 6.0 earthquake that occurred in the South Indian Ocean.

The quake struck at 12:29 pm Saturday, Maldivian time.

According to the Met Office, the epicenter was located 1,748 kilometers from Male’ City.

The Met Office said the earthquake poses no threat to Maldives.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.
