Parliament representative for Kaashidhoo constituency MP Abdulla Jabir announced his decision to sign for ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) on Sunday.
Speaking with Sun regarding this, Jabir said that the signing will take place during a special ceremony at 1100hrs on Sunday.
The ceremony will be held at Salt Cafe’ - the campaign hub for President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The President, along with leaders of MDP and some parliamentarians will be present.
According to Jabir, he will be walking from his home to Salt, accompanied by renown Boduberu group – ‘Habeys’.
His decision follows a recent invitation from MDP’s Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail to join the party.
Notably, this marks the second time Jabir is signing for MDP.
With the election day drawing close, an campaign efforts are at an all time high, many from other political parties have been signing to MDP. This includes FENAKA’s MD Hassan Shah, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Aminath Mohamed Saleem, Deputy Minister of Heritage Waleedha Waleed, Minister at the President’s Office Ahmed Sameer and some members of Jumhoory Party’s council as well.
