MUNICH (AP) — Germany international Thomas Mueller has extended his contract to stay with Bayern Munich until June 2017.

Bayern says Mueller, who came through its youth setup after switching from hometown side TSV Paehl as an 11-year-old, signed the two-year extension to his existing deal on Wednesday.

Mueller made his Bundesliga debut in August 2008 and his breakthrough the following season, when he earned his Germany place at the 2010 World Cup. He finished the tournament as top-scorer with five goals to win the Golden Boot. Mueller has 38 caps for Germany.

The 23-year-old offensive allrounder is enjoying his best season for Bayern, scoring or setting up 21 goals across 25 games in all competitions. In the Bundesliga, he has scored nine and set up nine more.
