Police seek new recruits to join service as constables

Maldives Police Service has opened job applications seeking new recruits for the position of constable.

According to an announcement – the post of a constable entails undertaking all responsibilities bestowed by the Police Act.

Applicants must also be between 18-39 years of age, and must meet the criteria for new recruits on the Maldives Police Service Act.

The educational qualification for the position includes at least two ‘C’ passes in SSE or GCE O level, or two years of experience in a related field.

Those who meet this criterion must be at least 5’3” (if a male) and 5’ (if a female).

Priority will be given to applicants with educational qualifications and applicants who score the highest in assessments in addition to females applying for allotted vacancies announced for particular regions, according to the announcement.

The applicants must pass the following assessments:

  • Background assessment
  • Physical fitness assessment
  • Swimming assessment
  • Aptitude test
  • Interview
  • Polygraphy test
  • Medical examination

Priority will also be allocated to individuals interested in working in regions lacking human resources in terms of policing and regions where policing services are to be newly introduced.

Applicants must have the flexibility to work at any given location.

The monthly salary of a constable is set MVR 11,810 which breaks down as follows;

  • MVR 4,650 as basic salary
  • MVR 5,000 as service allowance
  • MVR 1,860 as non-practice allowance
  • MVR 300 as uniform allowance

As per the announcement, constables will begin receiving service allowance, non-practice allowance, professional allowance and other allowances entitled by the Police Service Act three months after the date of recruitment.

The deadline for applications is 13:00pm on April 18th.  The application, along with supporting documents, can be submitted to the reception of police headquarters in Male’ or local police stations between 11:00am to 13:00pm on working days.
