Ghasshan elected as ADh. Dhidhdhoo Council president

Ghasshan Abdulla who ran in ADh. Dhidhdhoo Council by-election has been declared the winner of the election.

Dhidhdhoo Council by-election was prompted by the resignation of the former council president. Voting in the by-election proceeded from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday.

Results showed that Ghasshan won the election with 64 votes. Ahmed Zaleef, the opposing candidate who also ran independently, won 47 votes.

A total of 148 people were eligible to vote in the by-election out of which 112 people cast their votes. This amounts to 75.68 percent of the eligible voters. Elections Commission (EC) placed ballot boxes in both Dhidhdhoo and Male’ City.

 

EC is also preparing to hold another by-election for Dhidhdhoo Council to elect a new councilor for a vacant seat following the resignation of a former councilor.
