One person has been reported early Monday morning after a fire incident occurred aboard ‘Aagalaa’ boat.
As per Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) reports of the incident were received at about 0247 hrs. Reportedly, the fire started in the boat's engine room.
Reported further revel that as soon as the boat caught fire, everyone on it jumped into the sea.
MNDF detailed that there were a total of 15 on board at the time of the incident. Of this, five were Maldivians, five Bangladeshis and five Indians.
Those rescued were taken to M.Muli hospital. But so far, no details pertaining to their well being has been revealed l.
The person reported missing is from India. MNDF's rescue operation is ongoing via air and sea.
Aagalaa boat is a boat from Addu City that carry goods between the southern atolls and Male’ City.
MNDF has said that due to the damages from the fire, Aagalaa boat has sunk at around 0820 hrs on Monday.
