President Solih sent greetings on S.Lanka's Independence Day

From the First Couple's visit to Sri Lanka to celebrate the country's 71st independence day.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent greetings on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka gained independence on February 4, 1948.

In his tweet, the President sent greetings and best wishes to “our cousins”, the Sri Lankan people, along with the President Ranil Wickremesinghe as well as the government. 

He went on to note that Maldives will continue to “cherish the fraternal ties of friendship we enjoy with Sri Lanka.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid is currently visiting Sri Lanka to take part in the 75th Independence Day festivities. 

Minister Shahid will be meeting with President Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawaradena during this visit. 

Maldives and Sri Lanka established bilateral relations on July 26, 1965.
