Two judges under investigate for misconduct

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has opened investigations against Civil Court judge Fayyaz Shathir and S. Hithadhoo Court’s chief magistrate Ziyada Thahir for possible misconduct.

According to JSC, the investigation against Fayyaz was opened following a complaint lodged against his for negligence for failure to issue a verdict over one year after hearings in the case concluded.

Meanwhile, the investigation against Ziyada was opened following a complaint of irresponsibility in executing her duties as a judge, and in conducting hearings.

The decision to investigate both Fayyaz and Ziyada was made during a meeting on January 8.
