Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom), on Thursday, issued cable TV license to SS Network (SS Net) Pvt. Ltd.

SS Net’s cable TV service will be managed by Sun Siyam Media.

Sun Siyam Media’s COO Mohamed Asif (Mondhu) told Sun the Sun Siyam Media was founded by business magnate Ahmed Siyam Mohamed 15 years back during Maldives’ democratic journey, with the goal of delivering independent and transparent local and world news to the Maldivian people.

In this successful journey, today, we have begun managing a completely new product under the Sun Siyam Media umbrella, he said.

Mondhu said that Siyam wants to provide a cable TV service that is affordable and up to par with the services provided in the most developed nations.

He said the SS Net will offer all channels currently provided in Maldives via existing cable TV service providers.

The service will be available nationwide via internet and cable, he said.

“We will provide this service to all homes in all islands. And we will provide this service to mobile phones and all resorts in Maldives,” he said.

When asked about when the service is expected to launch, Mondhu said Sun Siyam Media had been charged with managing SS Net as soon as SS Network Pvt. Ltd. received its rebroadcasting license.

Mondhu said they expected to launch the service soon.

A final date will be announced later, he said.

“We have begun preparations. We guarantee the quality of this service,” he said.
