Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has opened a misconduct investigation against a Criminal Court judge for delay in issuing judgement in a court case.
JSC confirmed the investigation against Criminal Court judge Soffath Habeeb in a statement Wednesday.
According to JSC, Soffath is accused of delaying the judgement in a case despite the presentation of closing arguments and conclusion of hearings.
JSC did not disclose any details regarding the case.
The commission has selected a committee to investigate the judge.
Criminal Procedure Code requires judges to issue judgements within 30 days the closing arguments are presented.
