According to Customs, they seized Cannabis with a street value of MVR 367,000.

Customs stated that the items were handed over to Maldives Police Services for further investigation.

This marks the fifth instance Cannabis was sized during an attempted smuggle in Maldives.

As per Custom statistics, over 19 kilos of Cannabis have been seized so far this year.

Police have been working jointly with neighbouring countries to prevent the smuggling of drugs into Maldives.

According to Police, although large amounts of drugs are seized in such operations, a substantial solution to the issue has not been achieved.
