Eye Care, jointly with Maldives Diabetic Association, marked World Sight Day with a special event on Friday evening, at Artificial Beach.
The event held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm this evening, allowed attendees to register for ophthalmological health screening, ask questions from doctors specializing in ophthalmology and diabetes and make appointments with Eye Care for the upcoming week. Crucial information regarding ophthalmological health was disseminated during the event.
Apart from this, visual acuity tests and blood sugar testing were provided for attendees at the event.
Attendees who participated in ophthalmological health screening were given gift vouchers from Eye Care, and free consultations with an ophthalmologist. Three lucky winners who participated in the screening will be selected. They will receive prizes from Eye Care.
Eye Care also opened the opportunity to win a prize by sharing photos of the event on social media. In this regard, a lucky winner will win a sunglass. Participants must follow Eye Care on social media, and use the hashtag ‘Love Your Eyes’ whilst sharing their photos.
The winner will be announced on next Sunday.
Commenting regarding the event, Eye Care’ Marketing and Business Development Manager Azma Abdul Fathaah said that the event was organized to provide ophthalmological health screening opportunities for the public and to educate them on ophthalmological health.
“This is the first such event we are holding of this level. We have organized events previously in local islands,” she added.
Azma said that similar events are in the pipeline for the future.
