Managing Director of ADK Hospital Ahmed Afaal has been invited to address the gathering held to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of KVM Super Speciality Hospital, Chertala, India.

Notably, Afaal was the only guest speaker who is not from India, whose speech focused on transformation and change in the provision of healthcare.

During his speech, he noted that lessons need to be learned from each other as the medical field progresses fast with technology.

Moreover, he said that finding out about patient needs ahead of time, and preparing for them will lessen obstacles faced in providing care.

Afaal also highlighted the achievements of KVM, which started out with very limited resources.

Expressing that the opportunity to speak at an institution of the global standard was such a proud moment as a Maldivian, he added that it shows how much Maldives appreciates advances in the medical field.

The Managing Director of ADK joined the medical field over 30 years ago, as an English secretary at the Health Ministry. Within his 16 years with the ministry, moving ahead from one post to the other, he had even filled the post of Director of Health Systems Development.

Afaal joined ADK as Managing Director 16 years ago and remains to this day. He has up to master's education in managing the medical field.

The hospital open in 1972, with only doctors from internal medicine, gynecologists, and general medical practitioners.

However, today, KVM offers medical treatment with the latest technology and is a super specialty institution.
