Nasheed departs on unofficial visit to India

Parliament Speaker, former President has departed on an unofficial visit to India.

Parliament’s Communications Director Hassan Ziyau told Sun Nasheed departed for India on Saturday morning.

Ziyau said the Parliament was not privy to the purpose of the visit as it was unofficial.

“We just know its an unofficial visit. We just know he departed in the morning,” he said.

Nasheed’s current visit to India follows one in April, to attend the Raisina Dialogue.

Nasheed is known to have close political ties with India.
