Maldives Development Alliance (MDA)’s leader, Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed warns enemies of Islam are engaged in continuous efforts to shatter Islamic principles, and set off a wave of events to make haram acts halal.
He made the remark in his address on occasion of the upcoming Islamic New Year 1444.
In his address, Siyam said Prophet Mohamed’s perilous journey from Mecca to Medina was an important lesson in praying to Almighty Allah, and proof that courage and perseverance would lead to success, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
As the population of Muslims has increased across the world, so has the challenges facing the community, he said.
Siyam said there were a group of people spreading anti-Islamic ideologies, discrediting and attacking Islamic scholars, and labelling them as extremists.
He urged for greater unity to combat such attacks.
Siyam urged all Maldivians to perform religious duties, recite the Holy Quran, and give alms to the needy.
