President Solih departs to home island on unofficial trip

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Friday, has departed for his home island – Lh. Hinnavaru – on an unofficial trip.

The President’s departure was announced by the President’s Office’s Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez via a tweet.

No further details regarding the trip have been disclosed by the President’s Office.

The last trip undertaken by President Solih was an unofficial trip to Singapore. He was accompanied by First Lady Fazna Ahmed.

The first couple had left for Singapore on April 14. They returned on April 18.

President Solih had travelled to Singapore for a thyroidectomy prior to this. He left for Singapore on February 23 and underwent surgery on February 25.

Vice President Faisal Naseem had taken over the President’s responsibilities while he had been undergoing the surgery.

He had returned to the Maldives on March 6.
