Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, announced 172 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 174,163.
According to HPA, the 172 new cases include; 34 cases from the greater Male’ region, 119 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 16 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 234 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 159,621.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 14,232 active cases.
There are 4 patients in hospitals.
1,548 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 376 samples from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 297 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October.
As of present, 398,315 people have received their first dose and 371,410 people have been fully vaccinated, and 142,237 have received their booster dose.
