COVID-19: 560 new cases; 15,018 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 560 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 170,192.    

According to HPA, the 560 new cases include; 48 cases from the greater Male’ region, 471 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 26 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 618 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 154,864.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 15,018 active cases.      

There are 14 patients in hospitals.      

3,484 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 637 samples from the greater Male' region.  

With the 560 new infections on Monday, 4,463 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

February 28: 560 cases

Maldives has recorded 297 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February last year. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age six months later, in August, and began administering the booster dose the same month. 

As of Sunday, 398,197 people have received their first dose and 371,051 people have been fully vaccinated, and 130,630 have received their booster dose.
