COVID-19: Maldives records 507 new cases in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, announced 507 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 168,631.     

According to HPA, the 507 new cases include; 40 cases from the greater Male’ region, 405 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 24 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 1,649 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 152,968. 

With the new developments, Maldives now has 15,356 active cases.      

There are 20 patients in hospitals.      

3,223 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 584 samples from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 294 COVID-19 deaths.

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October. 

As of present, 398,168 people have received their first dose and 370,973 people have been fully vaccinated, and 126,456 have received their booster dose.
