Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) National Council has passed to hold internal election to elect a Parliamentary Group (PG) Leader this month and to hold internal election to elect individuals for the post of Chairperson and four others in April.
At the second meeting of the fourth session of MDP's National Council held at Iskandar School last night – MDP's Male' City Leader Shifa Mohamed had made the proposal with the support of Gan Constituency Leader, Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail. The proposal was passed by the unanimous votes of all members of the National Council.
Shifa's proposal was to hold internal election to elect a Parliamentary Group Leader on February 28 – and to hold internal elections to elect individuals for the post of Chairperson, Women's Wing Leader and Youth Wing Leader on April 16.
She also proposed to hold an internal congress of the party on August 4.
In addition to this, it was also passed to carry out all works necessary to ensure that elections are held to elect members for posts mentioned in the party's charter before the current terms and the seat becomes vacant and the announcement of permanent results of said elections.
