Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 1,406 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 155,917.
According to HPA, the 1,406 new cases include; 307 cases from the greater Male’ region, 891 cases from residential islands outside Male’ and 69 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 1,292 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 139,409.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 16,208 active cases.
There are 58 patients in hospitals.
4,781 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,692 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 18 percent.

Maldives has recorded 287 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October.
As of present, 397,872 people have received their first dose and 370,359 people have been fully vaccinated, and 101,088 have received their booster dose.
