COVID-19: 1,955 new cases; 17,735 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, announced 1,955 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 146,991.     

According to HPA, the 1,955 new cases include; 599 cases from the greater Male’ region, 875 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 78 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 1,633 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 128,963.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 17,735 active cases.      

There are 56 patients in hospitals.      

5,469 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 2,244 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 27 percent.

Maldives has recorded 280 COVID-19 deaths.
