Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male’ has reduced its laboratory OPD service hours.
The hospital said on Saturday that they made the decision in light of the COVID-19 situation.
From January 30 to February 5, the lab will be open for blood tests from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm pn working days.
The lab had previously been open over eight hours.
The hospital has also announced that they will be issuing 200 tokens during the period; 100 online tokens and 100 tokens from the hospital itself.
IGMH said lab service hours will be revised based on changes to the COVID-19 situation on February 5.
Maldives is currently battling a surge in COVID-19 cases, fueled by the new and more contagious omicron variant. Health experts expect the cases to peak by the end of January or beginning of February.
Maldives has 130,599 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 2,510 new cases recorded on Friday. 112,535 patients have since recovered, while 274 have died from complications.
The country currently has 17,777 active cases. 49 of the patients are hospitalized.
