‘Bridging the Communities Maldives’ inaugurated

A non-governmental organization under the name ‘Bridging the Communities Maldives’ (BCM) has been inaugurated.

The NGO was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Maldives Vice Admiral (Retired) Ather Mukhtar, on Friday night.

BCM’s mission includes the empowerment of youth and women, promotion of social welfare, raising awareness amongst the society on environmental problems, terrorism, extremist ideologies and acts in addition to the development of health education.

Whilst a significant number of women have signed up as members of the NGO – members have also been elected for its board. Those elected for the board are individuals highly experienced and trained in the aforementioned areas.

In Friday night’s ceremony, an ‘Elite Card’ for the members of BCM was launched, which entitles them to discounts from different businesses. The Card was launched by the President of Maldives Broadcasting Commission Mariyam Waheeda.

BCM was inaugurated with over 100 women in its membership.
