COVID-19: Almost 1000 cases in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, confirmed additional 967 cases of COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cases in Maldives to 101,418.      

According to HPA, the new cases include; 475 cases from the greater Male’ region, 290 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 87 cases from operational resorts and two cases from liveaboards.

Meanwhile, 203 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 95,259.    

With these new developments, Maldives now has 5,881 active cases.

There are 22 patients in hospitals

7,505 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 4, 277 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 11 percent.

January 8: 337 cases 

Maldives has recorded 265 COVID-19 deaths.
