New sample center opened at FAM House; center at Social Center relocated to Thaajuddeen School

An additional sample collection center has been opened at the FAM House in Male’ City previously run by the Football Association of Maldives, after demand for COVID-19 PCR testing increased with the imposition of new travel restrictions in the Maldivian capital. 

Health Protection Agency (HPA) tightened travel restrictions after the COVID-19 sample positivity rate rose above 5 percent in the greater Male’ region.  

Fully vaccinated travelers from Male’ to other islands are now required to produce proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken maximum 72 hours prior to departure, while unvaccinated travelers from Male’ to other islands are required to undergo 14 days of quarantine and PCR testing.   

HPA announced on Monday afternoon that a new sample center has been opened at the FAM House. The center will be open from 02:00 pm to 06:00 pm every day. 

Meanwhile, the sample collection center at the Social Center has been relocated to Thaajuddeen School. 

In addition to the FAM House and Thaajuddeen School, PCR testing is also available from Vilimale’ Hospital and Senahiya Hospital.
