COVID-19: Male’ daily cases rise above 100

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 224 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 96,746.      

According to HPA, the 224 new cases include; 102 cases from the greater Male’ region, 48 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 74 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 192 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 93,736.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,734 active cases.      

There are 13 patients in hospitals.      

4,130 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,360 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 6 percent. 

With the 224 new infections on Wednesday, 1,326 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

January 5: 224 cases 

January 4: 228 cases 

January 3: 242 cases 

January 2: 161 cases 

January 1: 191 cases 

December 31: 160 cases 

December 30: 120 cases 

Maldives has recorded 263 COVID-19 deaths.
