Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 198 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 95,430.
According to HPA, the 198 new cases include; 53 cases from the greater Male’ region, 85 cases from residential islands outside Male’ and 90 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 120 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 92,940.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,205 active cases.
There are 13 patients in hospitals.
3,918 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,487 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 3 percent.

Maldives has recorded 262 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August.
As of present, 396,745 people have received their first dose and 367,346 people have been fully vaccinated, and 25,584 have received their booster dose.
