Maldives has recorded an additional COVID-19 fatality – increasing death toll to 259.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that a COVID-19 patient brought to Haa Alifu Hospital was declared dead-on-arrival.
They identified the latest COVID-19 victim as a 62-year-old Maldivian man. He passed away at 10:30am this morning.
His death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 259.
The last COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives prior to this was on Sunday; an 80-year-old Maldivian woman who was being treated at Baa Atoll Covid Management Facility.
Within the last 24-hours, HPA has announced 162 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 93,532.
According to HPA, the 162 new cases include; 29 cases from the greater Male’ region, 118 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 15 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 133 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 91,251.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,009 active cases.
