COVID-19: 127 new cases; 2,196 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 127 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 89,840.      

According to HPA, the 127 new cases include; 25 cases from the greater Male’ region, 88 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 14 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 159 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 87,384.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,196 active cases.      

There are 8 patients in hospitals.      

4,183 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,421 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent.

Maldives has recorded 247 COVID-19 deaths.
