COVID-19: 160 new cases; 2,080 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 160 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 89,126.      

According to HPA, the 160 new cases include; 25 cases from the greater Male’ region, 115 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 20 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 105 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 86,787.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,080 active cases.      

There are 12 patients in hospitals.      

4,483 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,348 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 160 new infections on Tuesday, 1,068 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

November 5: 130 cases 

November 4: 109 cases 

November 3: 219 cases 

Maldives has recorded 246 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August. 

As of Monday, 394,871 people have received their first dose and 359,758 people have been fully vaccinated.
