Maldives’ COVID-19 death toll rises to 244

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced on Thursday that a COVID-19 patient admitted at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility has passed away.  

HPA identified the deceased as an 81-year-old Maldivian male.  

He passed away at 07:19 am on Thursday.  

“This is the 244th COVID-19 death in the Maldives,” confirmed HPA in a tweet. 

This marks the first COVID-19 death in November. 

Maldives has 88,277 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 219 new cases recorded on Wednesday. 86,040 patients have since recovered.    

The country currently has 1,981 active cases. 33 of the patients are hospitalized.
