COVID-19: 173 new cases; 1,651 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 173 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 87,359.      

According to HPA, the 173 new cases include; 27 cases from the greater Male’ region, 137 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 9 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 75 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 85,453.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,651 active cases.      

There are 26 patients in hospitals.      

3,685 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,294 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 173 new infections this Wednesday, 935 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

October 27: 173 cases 

October 26: 110 cases 

October 25: 149 cases 

October 24: 92 cases 

October 23: 225 cases 

October 22: 55 cases 

October 21: 131 cases 

Maldives has recorded 242 COVID-19 deaths.
