COVID-19: 149 new cases; positivity rate in capital rises to 3%

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 149 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 87,071.      

According to HPA, the 149 new cases include; 39 cases from the greater Male’ region, 85 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 25 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 123 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 85,268.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,550 active cases.      

There are 22 patients in hospitals.      

3,357 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,346 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 3 percent. 

With the 149 new infections this Monday, 860 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

October 25: 149 cases 

October 24: 92 cases 

October 23: 225 cases 

October 22: 55 cases 

October 21: 131 cases 

October 20: 95 cases 

October 19: 113 cases 

Maldives has recorded 240 COVID-19 deaths.
