COVID-19: 55 new cases; Male' area positivity rate increased to 2 percent

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 55 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 86,605.      

According to HPA, the 55 new cases include; 21 cases from the greater Male’ region, 21 cases from residential islands outside Male’ and 13 cases from operational resorts

Meanwhile, 112 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 85,030.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,322 active cases.      

There are 18 patients in hospitals.      

3,063 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,134 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area has increased 2 percent - after being at 1 percent for over two weeks.

October 22: 55 cases 

October 21: 131 cases 

October 20: 95 cases 

October 19: 113 cases 

October 18: 46 cases 

October 17: 77 cases 

October 16: 111 cases 

Maldives has recorded 240 COVID-19 deaths.
