COVID-19: 46 new cases; 1,242 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 46 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 86,211.      

According to HPA, the 46 new cases include; 14 cases from the greater Male’ region, 22 cases from residential islands outside Male’, nine cases from operational resorts and one case from a liveaboard.

Meanwhile, 91 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 84,718.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,242 active cases.      

There are 13 patients in hospitals.      

3,668 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 943 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 1 percent.

Maldives has recorded 239 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August. 

As of present, 393,718 people have received their first dose and 351,570 people have been fully vaccinated.
