Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 106 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 85,838.
According to HPA, the 106 new cases include; 21 cases from the greater Male’ region, 78 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 7 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 89 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 84,381.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,207 active cases.
There are 14 patients in hospitals.
4,284 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,720 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 1 percent.
With the 106 new infections this Wednesday, 560 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

Maldives has recorded 237 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August.
As of Tuesday, 393,413 people have received their first dose and 348,662 people have been fully vaccinated.
