National Award of Honor conferred to 4 individuals; Award of Recognition to 14 individuals

The National Award of Honor has been conferred to four individuals, and the National Award of Recognition has been conferred to 14 individuals.

Recipients were presented their awards by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at the special ceremony held at Republic Square tonight to mark this year’s National Day. The recipients were selected by the National Awards Committee – constituted by the President for the task.

The National Award of Honor was presented to four individuals specializing in four different areas – one of which was awarded posthumously. They are:

  • Late Ibrahim Hussain Fulhu – in the area of recitation and teaching of the Holy Quran
  • Hassan Labeeb - In the area of Dhivehi literature
  • Dr. Hamid Rasheed - Contributions to the health sector
  • Malla Lhathuthu - Contributions to the field of sports

The National Award of Recognition was conferred to 13 individuals and one organization this year. They are:

  • Al’khafiza Latheefa Ahmed - In the area of recitation and teaching of the Holy Quran
  • Abdulla Jameel - In the area of Dhivehi literature
  • Fathuhulla Ahmed - In the area of Dhivehi literature
  • Sharaful Hudha Mohamed - Contributions in the field of teaching
  • Ihavandhoo Masveringe Gulhun (Imagu) - Contributions in social work
  • Mohamed Rashid - Contributions in social work
  • Yoosuf Riffath - Contributions to the tourism sector
  • Fathimath Shifa Moosa Didi - Contributions to promoting arts and crafts
  • Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath - Contributions to the field of information
  • Ibrahim Mohamed - Contributions to the field of sports
  • Ali Rasheed – Contributions to the field of sports
  • Fathimath Saliya - Contributions to the field of sports
  • Maimoona - In the area of Visual Arts
  • Arushad Ashraf - In the area of Youth development

In tonight’s ceremony, the National Award for Special Achievement and Special Medal for Memorizing the Holy Quran was also presented.

The National Award for Special Achievement was conferred to 11 recipients this year; six individuals who had attained exceptional distinction in completing studies at MQA rank 10 and four individuals who achieved the highest-ranking position in a higher academic course between MQA rank 7 and 9. Out of these four individuals – three attained the highest rank in MQA rank 7 courses and one attained the highest rank in a MQA rank 9 course.

Individuals awarded for attaining exceptional distinction in completing studies at MQA rank 10 (PhD):

  • Dr. Mohamed Muneez
  • Dr. Fathimath Nishan
  • Dr. Mohamed Zahir
  • Dr. Mariyam Shareefa
  • Dr. Aishath Waheeda
  • Dr. Visal Moosa

Individuals awarded for achieving the highest-ranking position in a higher academic course at MQA rank 7, 8 or 9:

  • Aishath Zilma (MQA rank 9 – Masters)
  • Aminath Thizkar Yousuf (MQA rank 7 – Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Shamila Idrees (MQA rank 7 – Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Aminath Humaidha (MQA rank 7 – Bachelor’s Degree)

In addition to these ten individuals – Al-Qari Ahmed Rasheed Abdul Qadir was also awarded the National Award for Special Achievement in recognition of his outstanding performance in innovating an internationally recognized software for Dhivehi Braille to a standard recognized by the government for improving literacy amongst the blind.

The special medal for committing the Holy Quran to memory at the highest level was presented to 11 individuals this year. They are:

  • Al-Hafiz Salman Mohamed Latheef
  • Al-Hafiz Mohamed Nahil Azmeel
  • Al-Hafiza Latheefa Mohamed
  • Al-Hafiz Aahil Mohamed Zahir
  • Al-Hafiza Athifa Abdul Bari
  • Al-Hafiz Mohamed Mithyah Salman
  • Al-Hafiz Mohamed Asham Ali
  • Al-Hafiza Aishath Thoola Anwar
  • Al-Hafiz Lail Hussain Hameed
  • Al-Hafiza Aishath Shuba Shah

Speaking at the ceremony – President Solih congratulated all the recipients of the National Awards and Special Medals.
