COVID-19: 89 new cases; 1,591 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 89 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 84,809.      

According to HPA, the 89 new cases include; 31 cases from the greater Male’ region, 50 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 8 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 99 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 82,974.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,591 active cases.      

There are 21 patients in hospitals.      

4,160 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,565 from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 89 new infections this Thursday, 706 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

September 30: 89 cases 

September 29: 141 cases 

September 28: 95 cases 

September 27: 122 cases 

September 26: 72 cases 

September 25: 126 cases 

September 24: 61 cases 

Maldives has recorded 231 COVID-19 deaths.
