COVID-19: 84 new cases; 1,686 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, announced 84 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 83,332.      

According to HPA, the 84 new cases include; 37 cases from the greater Male’ region, 37 cases from residential islands outside Male’, nine cases from operational resorts, and one case from a liveaboard.

Meanwhile, 170 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 81,404.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,686 active cases.      

There are 18 patients in hospitals.      

3,109 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,059 from the Male' region.

September 11: 106 cases 

Maldives has recorded 229 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years in August.

On Friday, a total of 359 people had gotten their first dose whereas a total of 1,392 people had gotten their second dose.

With these new developments, a total of 390,644 people have received their first dose out of which 330,022 people have completed the second dose.
