COVID-19 patient at Thinadhoo passes away, death toll rises to 228

A COVID-19 patient admitted at GDh. Thinathoo Covid Management Facility has passed away yesterday evening at 16:52.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed the identity of the latest COVID-19 fatality as an 89-year-old Maldivian man.

His death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 228.

During the last 24-hours, HPA has announced 86 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 83,248.      

According to HPA, the 86 new cases include; 34 cases from the greater Male’ region, 36 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 16 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 144 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 81,234.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,774 active cases.
