COVID-19: 103 new cases, 56 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, announced 103 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 82,578.      

According to HPA, the 103 new cases include; 35 cases from the greater Male’ region, 56 cases from residential islands outside Male’, nine cases from operational resorts and three cases from liveaboards.

Meanwhile, 82 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 80,236.  

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,102 active cases.      

There are 12 patients in hospitals.      

3,815 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,351 from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 227 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years in August.

On Friday, a total of 858 people had gotten their first dose whereas a total of 3,418 people had gotten their second dose.

With these new developments, a total of 388,053 people have received their first dose out of which 314,010 people have completed the second dose.
