COVID-19: 173 new cases; 1,895 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 173 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 81,474.      

According to HPA, the 173 new cases include; 68 cases from the greater Male’ region, 89 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 16 case from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 72 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 79,340.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,895 active cases.      

There are 24 patients in hospitals.      

6,418 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 2,709 from the greater Male' region.    

With the 173 new infections this Thursday, 1,038 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

September 2: 173 cases 

September 1: 189 cases 

August 31: 152 cases 

August 30: 169 cases 

August 29: 113 cases 

August 28: 139 cases 

August 27: 103 cases 

Maldives has recorded 226 COVID-19 deaths.
