COVID-19: 137 new cases, 23 from Male’ area

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 137 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 77,895.    

According to HPA, the 137 new cases include; 23 cases from the greater Male’ region, 100 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 14 cases from operational resorts.  

Meanwhile, 30 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 75,095.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,566 active cases.    

There are 17 patients in hospitals.    

4,996 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,925 from the greater Male' region.  

With the 137 new infections this Wednesday, 801 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.    

August 4: 137 cases

August 3: 125 cases 

August 2: 86 cases  

August 1: 115 cases   

June 31: 123 cases    

June 30: 107 cases    

July 29: 108 cases       

Maldives has recorded 222 COVID-19 deaths.
